According to the holiday and event decorating experts at Christmas Decor, a holiday lighting and decorating company in North America, home and business owners who plan to showcase their buildings during the holiday season should start planning now.

Especially if homeowners are planning on using special effects to light up their homes this Christmas, the decorating company, among countless other retailers, are starting their holiday seasons early.

Countless shoppers have complained about the concept of “holiday creep,” in which retailers across the country push items for holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas all seemingly before the sun sets on Labor Day.

However, approximately 40% of all consumers in America report starting their Christmas shopping before Halloween, a number that has stayed consistent over the last decade.

Stocking holiday items while it’s still warm outside can be a sore subject for many; even retailers like Walgreens, Kohl’s, and Toys R Us decline to comment on such occassions.

However, with over $626 billion in holiday retail sales in 2015, it’s clear that stores want to be prepared as early as possible for the inevitable consumer demand.

In 12% of all credit and debit fraud cases, a website is the initial point of contact. While it’s true that many do their holiday shopping online, countless more are in the stores before Halloween scouring shelves for the perfect gift.

Despite the truth in numbers, people still get angry when they see holiday decorations up too early.

One restaurant in Gloucester already has its Christmas lights and trees up, but the leaves haven’t even started changing colors yet.

A sign next to the tree reads: “IT’S CHRISTMAS!” and urges customers to book their festive events early.

“The stores are obviously out to cash in on Christmas as soon as they can,” said Julie Delange, a mother of three, on the store’s eagerness.

Christmas Decor, as a long-standing decorating company in North America, is all for the early preparation.

The company urges homeowners to book their decorating appointment “before schedules fill up,” and to then “use the time you save to enjoy the holidays with your friends and family.”
